To be a tree...again

The bark draws 
me with its raw
appeal
its rough exterior
can still turn green
with juices
of life inside.
It stands strong
and yet waves to the distant
thunder
and sways to the 
mighty winds
holding firm
to its deep roots.
There is a poetry
timeless
running through
its veins
and into mine.

It's the rule
in the wilderness
to let deadwood
lie,
and it's enchanting
when it merges
with the soil
and the rocks
and yet retains its
distinct identity.
Who can know
what entwines the roots
of this massive tree
underground
that teems with
insects surviving 
on air and water and earth
but need no light.
And it is the same 
inside me.
Wondrous!

It's unreal
it's a dream or a fantasy
to be all by yourself
in all the glory
of nature within
and without
with flowers in bloom
inside and out
trees soaring to the skies
and roots going to the core
and I am too
waiting
to bloom
and soar
and dive
all at the same time...
It's so real to be feeling
the breeze on your naked limbs
it's so unreal and a dream....
