Life taught me
I can't wish away
pain and suffering
much as I would like to
and so I ought to face
them squarely or at least
bear them patiently.
And I have been doing that
so much so that
something pleasant
would become a surprise
tinged by fear.
So no pleasant surprises for me.
Don't ask me for anything future.
Any more of that and I
would simply fold inward
until I become a speck
to be flicked off.
Just let me
be
be live.
