In the Nature of things...

When I go
to nature
I let myself
merge with it.
With the cool shade
I gain my cool
with the rough texture
of a century old bark
I become weatherbeaten
but still holding
In the strong trunk
I find my own strength
and rectitude
to lean on.
With the soft ground below
I let myself not become
a burden to myself
and when the light
begins to fade
I make peace
with the haziness inside
and most of all
I don't rush 
with or drive on 
life.
I just let myself be 
- no posturing
and no pretences. 

Growing

So nice to be resting
your head
against a solid 
yet supple support
that never stops 
reaching for the skies.
Growing without
stunting others
without casting
a shade over others
and yet receiving
everything with grace.
I have no hesitation
no inhibition
to let joy come to me
into me and
out of me.
Joy is growing.

It's a little mischief,
this life,
don't you think so?
Otherwise the flow of water
reflects the clear blue sky.
I stand in the shade
and yet there is this beam
of light, golden yellow,
brushes past my cheeks
and shoulders
as though
teasing me
to move out of the shadows
and plunge into
the flow in all my
naked glory.

To be alive in 
this play of 
light and shade,
of quiet and rustle
rocks and grass
the green and the yellow
is to take in
the fresh air
the energy
of the tiniest creation 
around me 
without filter
and barrier
and just allow it
to flow through me
to wherever and everywhere.
