Water collects
in a pond
under the shade of
trees
that thrive under
the blue sky
dotted by clouds
that bask in the sun
and float from here
to there.
I stand wondering
if I need to step
into the water:
will it be muddy
cold
warm
clean
and run deep?
I am on my own
and I have all these
for company:
the mud, the frogs
the sky, the clouds.
I am on my own
and they are of my own.
Shudder I do
for a moment
when I realise
what I am reduced
to when I
return to
my daily grind.
Their gazes
speak to every pore
of my body
trying to gouge out
every bit of flesh
and every bit of muscle.
They are empty within
and want to empty their
filth into me.
Gosh! It's better to float
on the water
endlessly letting
the waves take you
and the fish tickle you
and the sharks devour you.
